Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Clinical Psychology
Mensana Psychology is offering weekly sessions that incorporate Clinical Psychology and Trauma Sensitive Yoga to help you learn ways to deal with current and past challenges.
These sessions will include a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Component followed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy sessions in which you will have the opportunity to learn and practice helpful ways to deal with challenging thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
The combination of both Yoga and Clinical Psychology will contribute to deeper learning and long lasting changes and the weekly sessions will provide you with opportunities to practice new skills with the support of a Clinical Psychologist and Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher.
What do the ACT session involve?
Acceptance and Commitment therapy is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach which in recent years has gained more and more empirical evidence to support its efficacy. ACT uses mindfulness as a way to learn to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings whilst engaging in meaningful life enhancing action.
The ACT session component of the 6 weeks course will involve art activities and exercises, simple "self-experiements" to experience and practice the skills we aim for you to take into your everyday life.
The sessions will commence with a gentle 30 mins Trauma Sensitive Yoga practice, followed by a 60 mins interactive Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Session.
